Trevor Noah a hit in America!

January 9th, 2012

South African comedian Trevor Noah was a hit on American screens on Friday.

The funnyman made his debut on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, becoming the first African stand-up comedian to appear on the show. His South African fans and colleagues have applauded his appearance on the show, as did the audience on the night.

Noah’s performance included the “no mean” skit, an illustration of how some African Americans turn “Do you know what I mean?” and other phrases into single words. The audience was on their feet during the show.

The comedian was watched by a live studio audience, and over four million American viewers tuned into the show – not to mention viewers from all around the world. It is certain that his appearance has cemented his career in comedy, and many suggest the move will also open doors for other South African comedians.

Before his appearance on the show, Noah spoke to Talk Radio 702, and said he has moved to America in order to expand his opportunities and break into the American market.

After the show, Noah said on social network Twitter, “Just did the Tonight Show set and it was amazing. I got a standing ovation! Words cannot describe how happy I am.”
