“The influence of an artist on the people is far greater than that of a politician.”This is the premise that drives the #FollowSA and Peace Starts initiatives. ZAlebs was present on Tuesday night as local zalebrities, Tweeters and socialites alike got together to spread the word, and collect goods like food, toys and school stationery to donate to Noah, a charity organisation empowering communities and caring for vulnerable children.
#FollowSA brings South Africa to the forefront, and its accompanying hash tag, #CollabSA, encourages the people of Mzansi to work together to bring about something great.
Peace Starts was founded by Wonderboom frontman, Cito Otto, and endeavours to promote peace and solidarity amongst the people of Jozi. Its zalebrity ambassadors who have used their vast influence in spreading the good word of Peace Starts include Ashley Hayden, Kb Motsilanyane, Lee-Roy Wright, and Slikour, amongst others, many of whom were there last night. Mrs United Nations International 2012, Kona Brown and Miss Earth, Tamera Jardin, also showed their lovely faces and positive attitudes.
It’s first Youth Ambassador, Jamie Odgers, rode in this year’s 94.7 Cycle Challenge, raising R22 000 for his charity of choice, Door of Hope. In total, 55 cyclists took part, raising a whopping R107 700 for Peace Starts!
Remember that Peace Starts launched its “Pledge for Peace” campaign in September this year. The campaign will run for a year, and asks you to define what peace means to you, and act on it. Visit www.peacestarts.co.za and make your pledge!
