On Wednesday night we were introduced to Bongani, a man madly in love with one of the ladies at his church.
Bongani asked the assistance of the UyangthandaNa team to help him express how he feels about his crush - Itumeleng.
The man was so into Itu that he even plucked up the courage to recite a poem he wrote for her on national TV. A gesture some of us would never even think of attempting, especially in front of millions of viewers.
There were many cringe-worthy moments on this episode, but a moment that stood out the most was when Itumeleng suddenly referred to Bongani as "Brother Bongani" after he confessed his love for her.
The immediate 'Brother Bongani' referral sent social media into a frenzy and sheer shock.
We guess everyone immediately knew that Bongani was officially in friend-zone prison after Itumeleng explained that she only loved him as a brother and friend. Damn, he not only was friend-zoned but also family-zoned as well. There is no getting out of that situation.
Also, did anyone count the number of times brother Bongani mentioned the words 'basically' & 'actually?' We lost count after the first ad-break.
Despite the word 'basically' and 'actually' being misused on #Uyangthandana tonight,I think that was a nice way to friendzone someone.— Precious Ntshidy (@ntshidy_p) February 21, 2018
Basically 🙆🙆 #Uyangthandana— Merry-may (@kgabomerry) February 21, 2018
What also confused us about this particular episode was Itumeleng's relationship status. She's single, not yet married but in a relationship?
Although Bongani's gesture was rejected, many viewers commended him for his bravery.
I just love this guy’s gut. We all need LOOOOVE #UyangthandaNa— Katlego Omphile (@Omphile_Katlego) February 21, 2018
