5 Songs you won't hear on Trace Request

Trace Request is one of the most popular shows of the music channel, but we're tired of being frustrated when some of our favorite songs aren't played. Here's 5 songs we'd love to see, but we're sure we won't.

5. Childish Gambino- 3005

Childish Gambino is a household name in the Hipster-Rap household, having risen to internet fame after releasing a ton of music for free in his early years. We still get a lot of free mixtapes, but he's staking his claim as a fully signed rapper, and his newest single, 3005 is an indicator that he's as good as anybody around. The music video is goofy, abstract and properly hipster (Can we say that? We just did!) however with too much of the same in a lot of Hip Hop videos, a little change never goes amiss.

4. Uhuru- Y Tjukutja

If there's any song that can be stuck in your head after hearing it once (Even if you struggle to spell it!) it's Y Tjukutja by Uhuru, who feature Oskido and Professor on their hit track. We love Trace for their local and African content, just as we love it for their international track, but we think this club banger deserves a little more presence on Trace Request.

3. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis featuring Mary Lambert- Same Love

(Disclaimer: We're not for a second accusing Trace of homophobia!) Same Love was one of the most eye opening tracks of 2013, and it's one that many ought to be hearing. Where a lot of music is designed to make you dance, rightfully so in a lot of instances, it's refreshing to hear music sending a different message in the mainstream. We'd love to hear Same Love on Trace Request; plus it's a really catchy song!

2. Mgarimbe- Sister Bettina

Look, We don't care how old it is, you don't need any excuse to play Sister Bettina. Perhaps not every day, but a cheeky request every few months isn't too much to ask for, is it? We can already picture all of you jumping up from your couches in excitement and dusting off your dance moves from the mid 00s as you break it down to this anthem.

1. The Proclaimers- (I'm gonna be) 500 Miles

Er, sorry what? Yes, (I'm Gonna Be) 500 miles, The greatest song ever written. Everybody, absolutely everybody, loves this song. Whether it takes your mind to the wet plains of Scotland, with a picturesque mountain background behind you, or it takes you back to How I Met Your Mother, Season 2 (The Fiero!) you will love this track. We want to see it on Trace Request. Again, not daily, but from time to time- ya know?

We're not having a go at Trace, we love the channel to bits especially as it's one of the few music channels that, you know, plays actual music! We're just hoping we can see a couple more of these requests in the future.
