Ladysmith Black Mambazo have been at it for a staggering sixty years, and have shown no signs of slowing down!
Oh man! There's nothing as satisfying to an artist's soul than living off their true and organic style of artistry. Grammy award-winning group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo have enjoyed a fruitful career by proudly churning out some iconic Scathamiya records.
The group celebrated their sixtieth year anniversary at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall in KwaZulu-Natal this past weekend. Since its formation in 1960, LBM has amassed global success and they continue being beacons of light and hope for aspiring musicians.
Ensuring that Isichathamiya remains preserved and relevant, Ladysmith Black Mambazo has initiated a mobile academy where skills knowledge are imparted on aspiring musicians.
Some of the success stories from this initiative include three new groups called: Inkunzemnyama, Umzamo Young Boys and Good News.
LBM group leader, Sbongiseni Shabalala had this to say upon contact with Daily Sun: "To celebrate 60 years while we're still going strong is a big thing for us, and it needs to be celebrated with fans.
"We're happy that, as we celebrate 60 years, we're also unveiling new 'Scathamiya groups to fill our shoes."
