It's another sad day in South African entertainment as music fans around the country as reports seem to be spreading of Senyaka Kekana's death. The singer and actor played a pivotal role in establishing South African music and now it seems like his legacy has been laid to rest once and for all.
The news broke as the result of a series of tweets from several well-known personalities, including our Minister of Sports and Recreation Fikile Mbalula. Mbalula confirmed that the singer had passed away and before long, publications such as Sunday World had run with the story. Fikile Mbalula mentioned that he received the news of Senyaka’s passing from DJ Mahoota.
We pass our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and loved ones.We will miss u arts&culture is poorer without u big loss #RiPSenyaka— RSA Min of Sport (@MbalulaFikile) March 25, 2015
The story is still developing and we have yet to discover exactly what the cause of Senyaka's death was. In fact, several people on Twitter are torn over whether or not to believe the news until it is confirmed by an official source. I came across this tweet from Tloks, who shared the last ever picture he took with Senyaka Kekana.
#RipSenyaka is already starting to trend on all social media platforms and it doesn't look like it will be very long until we have a statement confirming his passing away.
We will be on standby to let you know of any information we come across as and when we have it, but for now, our hearts hurt as we send our condolences to everybody who knew Senyaka Kekana as a family member, friend, and colleague.
Rest in Piece Senyaka, thank you for every contribution you made to South African entertainment.
