15 January 2020 would have marked Akhumzi Jezile's 31st birthday and his friends did not disappoint in paying moving tributes to the fallen Tv star

His friends, dubbed the “Society’ group" gathered to celebrate Akhumzi’s 31st birthday in a bittersweet moment.

The renowned TV presenter and producer might have gone too soon, but he left behind a string of fond and heartwarming memories. His friends and industry colleagues flooded social media with moving tributes to commemorate what would have been his special day.

The larger-than-life star was hailed for the impact he made in many lives as his legacy still lives on.

His friends, including Dr. Musa Mthombeni, Sphesihle Vazi , Clement Maoasa, and Sive Nkukwana visited his grave at the Westpark Cemetery in Johannesburg and flooded the social streets with snaps.

Tv and radio star Lerato Kganyakgo also remembered Akhumzi by taking a stroll down memory and sharing snippets of the conversations she had with the star.

Akhumzi, along with friends Siyasanga Kobese, Thobani Mseleni and two others died in a horrific head-on collision after they were reportedly travelling to a family event in the Eastern Cape. The crash occurred outside Queenstown after a truck that was carrying a car had lost control and swerved into Akhumzi and his passengers

News of his death sent shockwaves across the country and he has since been celebrated and hailed for his contribution to the media fraternity. Last week, the Akhumzi Jezile foundation embarked on a new campaign to assist students in obtaining valid driver's licenses this year.

The foundation launched the "Get Your License" campaign which is set to fund learners’ licenses as well as driver’s licenses for pupils who are currently in grade 11.
