I’ve heard people blame the government for many different things in the past, but this has to be a first for me. According to a recent tweet, rapper Cassper Nyovest blames the Mafikeng government for not supporting their artists as much as they should. The, artist who is originally from the North West Province, is not happy about the lack of support Maftown artists have been getting from their local government.
“KZN artists get so much support from their government. They can even live there and survive. Maftown has never had that” he posted.
In another tweet he once again mentions the inability of artists from Mafikeng to make a living in their hometown, and lets us know exactly who is to blame. “So sad how all the artists from Maftown have to leave to make a living for themselves. Our department of sports, arts and culture has failed us.”
This seems to be the go-to approach for South Africans lately – when in doubt, blame the government.
