Speaking to The Juice, Cassper said it’s important that people stand up for themselves in life, because others will just trample over you if you let them, but added that the bad publicity was actually good for his career.
“It’s something I had to do. I wouldn’t be where I am if I didn’t do it. People would have thought you can walk all over me. You can’t walk all over me. People know now that I have a voice. But it’s done. I’m moving on,” he told the website.
The rapper also said that he doesn’t have to pull publicity stunts like being in a celebrity couple, because his music is interesting enough by itself.
“I can just be me. I don’t need to drive a Bentley. I could be in a taxi and people would still love me because of the music I do. I’m just glad that it’s easy for me to get back to just the music,” he said.
Cassper furthermore urged fans not to entertain “this guy vs this guy sh*t” because it’s meaningless, and added: “I’m trying to concentrate more on positive vibes and getting back to who I really am. I’ve been so caught up. People test you. You come in this industry as such a friendly guy, loving. Trust me, it’s done.”
As a relatively new artist in the local hip hop scene, Cassper has impressively received the highest number of nominees for the upcoming 2014 Channel O Africa Music Video Awards.
