Ashley Raphala who is popularly known as Dj Shimza is unarguably one of South Africa’s most charitable DJs in the music industry.

The DJ is a formidable force that continues to shape the lives of the needy. His rise to stardom over the years has seen him commanding the spotlight for his philanthropic work and this week he continued to shine a light in the community of Ekurhuleni.

Shimza donated 2000 pairs of shoes to underprivileged pupils across Ekurhuleni as part of his One-Man Shoe Campaign.

The handover took place at Olifantsfontein Hall and it saw pairs of shoes distributed to poor under privileged learners from Tembisa.

The handover was attended by Ekurhuleni Executive Mayor, Mzawndile Masina, and the MEC of Education and Youth Development, Panyaza Lesufi. The campaign (which is in partnership with Toughees) was launched to help eradicate the challenge that many pupils face - which is not making it to school or walking to school barefoot. Shimza has worked immensely hard to restore the children’s dignity so that they can have a better education.

The campaign continues to yield positive results every year and is a product of Dj Shimza’s One-Man Show held annually on Christmas eve. Shimza dedicates all funds made from the show to lend a helping hand to his community.
