There is something undeniably distinct about a Gemini Major beat. Every time the beat drops, you find yourself assuming the position mid-groove.
"The position" differs from person to person however - depending on what song is playing. You could find yourself on this tip when 'Ragga Ragga' is played...
... or in this position when you hear WitnessTheFunk's 'Nomusa (Ratchet Trap)'
and you would definitely find yourself looking like this at some point while Da L.E.S's 'Lifestyle' featuring Gemini Major is playing
Besides being the soundtrack to an epic party, these tracks have one thing in common - Gemini Major on production.
Born Benn Gilbert Kamoto on 14 June 1990, the producer (who is of Malawian descent) proves time and time again that he is the definition of virtuosic whenever he hops on a track.
Derived from the Latin/Italian noun virtuoso, virtuosic is an adjective used to describe those who are skilled, learned, of exceptional worth in the field of music or another artistic pursuit.
This is exactly why he became the first Malawian to participate in Coca Cola's flagship music show, Coke Studio, which seeks to unite diverse music talents in Africa for world class showcases. He was one of 8 African producers chosen for the 2017 season and worked on a total of three songs.
He will also form part of the line-up for the upcoming Major League Gardens and our bodies are ready!
Come 23 September 2017, Gemini will join the likes of AKA, Admiral, DJ Tira, Jahseed and Patoranking for the first ever Red Bull Culture Clash at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.
The Red Bull Culture Clash comprises four stages, each featuring a crew representing a genre. The crews will then battle against each other to be crowned Red Bull Culture Clash winner. Captains for each of these stages/crews will be AKA (SA/hip hop), Admiral (SA/dancehall), DJ Tira (SA/house), Jahseed (Zimbabwe/dancehall) and Patoranking (Nigeria/Afro-beats).
Surprisingly, Gemini will be part of Patoranking's Red Hot Sound System team alongside DJ Snypes, Major League DJz, Jupitar and "secret guests."
Tickets are available via Computicket and they range between R200 and R1000.
