It seems criminals have been targeting the Mall of Africa, which has experienced high foot traffic since its opening in April.
According to reports, 43 cars were stolen during the first few days of the mall’s opening.
Kedibone Mulaudzi says he returned to his vehicle after a bit of shopping to find three men trying to break into his Jeep Wrangler recently.
“When I screamed the men jumped into a nearby car and sped off,” he told the Daily Sun.
The thugs managed to grab his laptop out of the Jeep before fleeing the scene.
Luckily, nearby police officers were able to assist, and chase down the criminals, who were promptly arrested.
They recovered the comedian’s stolen laptop.
A Mall of Africa spokesperson told the publication that they were aware of reported incidents of theft, but most did not take place inside the mall.
He added that they have 24-hour security to ensure the safety of shoppers.
