We all know how challenging it can be to be a single parent or to be raised by one. However, some single parents turn out to be the best thing that could happen to a child.

Media personality Khanya Mkangisa can attest to that as well.

The 30-year-old has seen herself garner a successful career in the entertainment industry, bagging many gigs and even landing herself her first True Love Magazine cover for the month of December.

However, all of this success didn't come easy for Khanya and her mother who had to sacrifice a lot to ensure that her daughter's dream of working in the entertainment industry came to fruition.

In a recent thread, the actress opened up about how much of an amazing superwoman her mother is and how supportive she's been ever since Khanya embarked on this journey of working in the entertainment industry.

"Mothers are truly God's greatest gift," read her first tweet.

She then continued to share that her mother had decided that they move to Johannesburg as she wanted a better life for her daughter, despite working on a nurse's salary and the high cost of living in the big city.

"Did I mention how she raised me alone, on a nurse’s salary and how she one day decided we were moving to Johannesburg because she wanted a better life for us? She still remains my number 1 fan. Hearing her tell me she’s proud of me truly warms my heart. I am so thankful for her."

Khanya made it clear that her mother has always been supportive of her, even sacrificing sleep to get her on set early in the morning when she was still a YoTV presenter.

"My mom has always been so supportive of me and my career. She used to pick me up from school and drive me to auditions. When I booked Yotv’s Big Yo, on Saturday mornings she’d drive me to studio at 6am in the morning. She never once complained. She didn’t have to do any of this."

Respect to all mothers who are doing their best to ensure their kids reach their dreams.
