How Lerato Kganyago is building an empire

It looks like one of Mzansi's hottest celebrities, Lerato Kganyago is expanding her portfolio and making moves in the production industry.

The actress, presenter, DJ and fashionista is now the owner of her own production company called Kganyago Productions.

She shared the news on Instagram recently by posting a picture of the logo and wrote: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."

I am not quite sure yet what kind of shows she’ll be producing, would it be dramas, comedies, or even movies? Personally, I think she will be producing entertainment related content, such as red carpet productions or even entertainment related talk shows. Let's not forget that Lerato Kganyago has made her name in the entertainment industry as a presenter.

She started on Soweto TV as a presenter on a music show, and then she moved on to host her own talk show, The LKG Show. While LKG helped kick start her career, she really became a heavyweight talent when she moved to  SABC 1 as host of The Link. So it would make sense for her to continue producing entertainment content, considering her strength in this field.

She’s not the first celeb to venture into the production business. Other famous names include Bonang Matheba, Nonhle Thema and Denise Zimba who have started working on their careers behind the camera as well as in front of it.

Lerato has really proven to be a woman of many talents. She is also becoming well known for her DJ-ing skills. I get that people don't take "celebrity DJs" seriously, but I was surprised to find out she's been at it for several years. Even the likes of DJ Zinhle have endorsed her talent. She can't be that bad if heavy weights are promoting her skills, right?

Lerato has also ventured into acting... well just a bit. She appeared on SABC 2 drama Skwizzas, and last month, she shot a scene for SABC 1 series Thandeka's Diary. It seems like Lerato really wants to dominate the industry and it looks like that's going to happen very soon.

She's setting herself up for success in the industry, and I'm pleased to see our presenters doing more than just presenting. Entertainment can be a career if you invest in it and Lerato is definitely on the right path to doing so.
