For weeks, we've been hearing about Mampho Brescia's new role as the first ever Brand Japan Ambassador for South Africa but what exactly does that mean?
The announcement has been billed as a highly fitting one due to her background of having studied in Japan. Add to that, her celebrity status and her knowledge of the country and its culture and you've got the ideal ambassador to be a bridge between South Africa and Japan.
The announcement was officially made on Friday, 27 July 2018 in Pretoria at the official residence of the Ambassador of Japan, Ambassador Shigeyuki Hiroki.
“Being appointed as Brand Japan Ambassador is a full circle moment for me. I had the opportunity to experience Japan as a student and I discovered an entirely different world. It’s such an honour to now be in a position to represent the beautifully rich and colourful Japanese culture to South Africa,” said Brescia in a statement.
The multi-award nominated South African Television, Film and Theatre actress, and prominent media personality will be travelling to Japan on 21 September 2018 as the official Brand Japan Ambassador to meet with Japanese role players in areas such as entertainment, tourism and public services.
“Japanese culture is filled with intrigue and mysteries of age old traditions. The art form in their expressions of fashion, motion pictures, and language is something I would love all South Africans to embrace. I’m looking forward to my Japan trip in September and meeting key stakeholders and adding great value as the first Brand Japan Ambassador," added Brescia.
