After a week of xenophobic attacks crippled the streets of South Africa, many South Africans - including our own celebrities, took a stand against these insidious crimes on foreign nationals living in the country.

Not only did our celebs post images captioned #SayNOToXenophobia, but they also got out there and actively did something to help.

Last week, some of these celebrities joined in on the peace march held in Durban and, whilst xenophobia peeped its evil head again in the streets of Joburg, the likes of Nhlanhla Nciza and Lerato Matsoso used their fame to help foreign nationals who are currently forced to live in a Germiston refuge.

Nhlanhla and Lerato had asked for people to assist them in donating food parcels, sanitary pads, blankets and clothes for all those affected by the attacks. and Lerato had asked for people to assist them in donating food parcels, sanitary pads, blankets and clothes for all those affected by the attacks.

The public heeded to their request, as hundreds of people donated these parcels to the needy.

After the successful turnout, Nhlanhla thanked all who had taken part in helping foreign nationals living in the country.

"Angels sent from above, it’s not every day that you meet amazing, selfless, beautiful individuals @mscaramelk, @ayanda25, @smandi8 Carol and many others that came through today at one of the refuge shelters in Germiston. @Leratomatsoso thank you so much for inviting me, may God bless your good heart my sis."
