We're less than 48 hours away from this year's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Johannesburg where some of the biggest names in fashion will be displaying their latest works. Fashion events are always an interesting affair as a blend of celebrities and fashionistas come together to celebrate some of the most creative work in the industry that will define what clothes we are all wearing for the next few months (Or in the case of some of us who aren't too fashion inclined, years).

In the US, the likes of Kanye West have made an impact in the fashion industry by bringing his musical creativity to the runway. Here at home, however, our own musicians are preparing to make an impact at MBFWJ this weekend including Mafikizolo's Nhlanhla Nciza.

The singer and fashion designer will be showcasing her newest label, NN Vintage, and she got her fans and followers on Instagram excited when she posted the following picture:

I can only imagine how nervous she is, but I don't think she has too much to worry about right now. Nhlanhla has always prided herself upon being a fashionable celebrity with a strong sense of style. Of course there's a big difference between being stylish and creating stylish clothing.

NN Vintage has been the talk of the town for a while now, even ANN7 previewed her upcoming showcase.

If you're a creative person, how different is it to write a song than it is to design an outfit? To answer this, Nhlanhla spoke to BD Live about her upcoming showcase, and she specifically touched on the difference between her approach to music and her approach to fashion.

"Both require creativity and inspiration. With music you get your music, go home, work on a song and, in a couple of days, you are in a studio recording, whereas in fashion you sketch the designs, go look for fabrics and it’s off to the studio to put a garment together, but sometimes it’s the fabric first, then design."

After the success that has followed Mafikizolo in the last 24 months, it's wonderful to see Nhlanhla branching out and expanding her brand by pursuing another one of her passions. I can't wait to see what NN Vintage and Nhlanhla Nciza have in store for us this week!
