Rappers with cornrows (weekend content)

With the rise of trap music came the aesthetic of the "skrr skrr boy" (aka the skrr skrr n****h) but what exactly is a skrr skrr?

They come in many forms really but they are most identifiable by their leader, American trap artist, Travis $cott, who performed in South Africa last year alongside Bryson Tiller.

Their dress sense is a cross between Kanye West Yeezy Season 4 and Travis $cott on any given day and despite people's criticism that their favourite music is "mumble rap," they boast a wide range of musical knowledge - not just in the genre of rap either.

BUT, a skrr skrr is most easily identifiable by their hair - and that is why more and more rappers and fans of rap have started to grow their hair out and rock it in a similar fashion.

One of the first South African rappers who rocked this style was Yanga. But don't confuse the style for the cornrows that the likes of Omarion and Bow Wow used to rock back when we were younger.

And then Priddy Ugly also joined the "rappers with cornrows" movement and he never lets the streets catch him slipping as his cornrows and the accompanying cut are always fresh.

Perhaps the most surprising addition to the team has to be Reason. The rapper recently debuted the look which caught the attention of many at the recent Axe Party of the Year.

... and fans don't seem to be impressed...

But it looks like the aesthetic is here to stay guys and dolls.
