The 9 Celebs nominated for this year’s Global Social Awards

The Global Social Awards aim to celebrate talent, creativity and originality of influencers who entertain and inspire fans, and have a positive impact on social media. The influencers are required to have more than 100k fans on either Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Pinterest, Twitch, Tumblr and any other social media account.

The awards have four categories namely; Fun and Entertainment, Social Impact and Change, Inspiration and Influence ,and The Newcomer. 

This year South Africa was able to land 8 of its influencers onto the shortlist. 

The South African music industry dominated the nominees list under the Fun and Entertainment category. 

1.       Shekhinah

We are not surprised to see South Africa’s favourite Rose Gold Queen on the list. The songbird has 182K followers on Instagram which she uses to capture her music performances and projects that she has been working on.

2.       Priddy Ugly

Independent record artist Priddy Ugly seems to be heading in the right direction. He boasts a following of 342k followers on his Instagram and his social media influence has risen since the promo video releases of his new EP with finance Bontle Modiselle has dropped. Making the hashtag #IWantSomethingNew has trend.

3.       Cassper Nyovest

With millions of followers on Instagram and Twitter the rapper has earned his nomination. He uses his platforms not only to show his work but to give his followers insights on his thoughts. Nyovest is known to be quite vocal on his Twitter.

4.       Anatii

Multi-talented creative Anatii is a person you watch in awe. His social media gives you insight into his creative genius from music releases to film direction. His influence is strongly based on Twitter where he has 978k followers.

The Inspiration and Influence category was ruled by the girls.

5.       Gigi LaMayne

South African female hip hop artist Gigi LaMayne always manages to break boundaries in a male dominated industry. The rapper has set her own path which has drawn many to her social media pages with over 277k followers on Twitter.

6       Sarah Langa Mackay

South African Fashion blogger and stylist Sarah Langa Mackay’s Instagram gives you the right blend of travel, bougie and fun that you need. The BA Marketing and Psych graduate has worked with top brands like Emirates, Prada and Witchery. She has 206k followers on her page.

7.       Bonang Matheba

When is Queen B not winning? The Public Figure star showed her influence on social media and she continues to thrive. Bonang dominates social media with over 5 million followers across Twitter and Instagram. She uses her platforms to show the amount of work she puts into her craft from her lingerie line, to her international work travel.

8.       Aisha Baker

Beauty Fashionista Aisha Baker who is known on Instagram as Bakedonline is living the dream. The yummy mummy wardrobe and aesthetics will have you glued on her page just like her other 133k followers.

9.       Vusi Thembakwayo

If you need your daily dose of motivation Vusi Thembakwayo has got you. The Shark Tank self-made billionaire shares his inside knowledge of entrepreneurship, financing and investor advice across his social media. He has 140k followers on Instagram and 330k on Twitter.

We wish all our influencers the best. A live broadcast of the awards will be played on 29 May which will be held in Prague in the Czech Republic.
