Media personality, business woman and philanthropist Thando Thabethe will be celebrating another triumph come 9 August as her annual charity netball game enters its fifth year running.
Dubbed 'the Annual Thando Thabethe Women’s Day Netball Challenge (TTWDNC)', the game calls on her famous network to lend their time and athletic skills to a charity game aimed at raising funds for organizations that support women in need in addition to celebrating, empowering and raising awareness around issues facing women.
The TTWDNC also boasts an annual theme and this year , the theme is #PlayItForward. This year's participants are required to play for the different issues, close to their heart, that affect women.
Among the famous faces we can expect to see in this year's match are Somizi, Lungile Radu, Zola Nombona, Khanya Mkhangisa, DJ PH, Jimmy Tau, Ms Cosmo and Moneoa.
They will be joined by Manaka Ranaka, DJ Fresh, Motlatsi Mafatse, Reason, Nolly Nolz, Thato Molamu, Shugasmaxx and Thando Thabethe herself.
Still one of my greatest achievements!!! Creating an event that allows us to put our heads and hearts together in an effort to make a change. It was 5 years ago that I started the Thando Thabethe Women’s Day Netball challenge, and to explain just how close to my heart this initiative is would be IMPOSSIBLE. Over the last 4 years we together have raised over R200 000 for Bethany home and Nisa Institute for women development. This years theme is #PlayingItForward!!! It could be a cause or a woman that you would be #PlayingItForward for. This year we are doing it for Masimanye Women’s support Centre!!! The #TTWDNC would not be possible without our amazing sponsors who help make this happen!!! With each year let’s make it bigger and better!!! Thank you to everyone that has taken part in this initiative and those that haven’t we look forward to seeing you this year. Comment with the #PlayingItForward and let me know who you’d be #PlayingItForward for✊🏽
"I’m beyond happy and proud to say that this initiative, which has become the highlight of my year, is in it’s fifth year and will help change the lives of even more women. It’s up to us, men and women, who have a strong voice to raise that voice in support of an equal society where women feel safe and are empowered to reach for their dreams,” said Thabethe in a statement.
The TTWDNC has raised R200,000.00 over the last four installments of the challenge.
Women who would love to help are invited to join the fun by entering themselves or their team, to participate in the challenge on the day and can register onThando Thabethe's website.
The TTWDNC takes place on Women’s Day 9 August 2018 at the newly built Klipspruit Sports Centre and those who wish to watch the fun can attend and pay a small entrance fee which will also go towards the donations.
