#ZAlebsStyle - Thando Thabethe's #SAFTAs12 looks rated

2018 saw Thando Thabethe return to host the annual South African Film and Television Awards for a second time, this time alongside radio veteran, Majota 'Phat Joe' Kambule.

Last year, she hosted the ceremony with SAFTA-award-winning presenter Katlego Maboe and blogger (and fashion consultant of sorts) Siya Beyile was in charge of all things fashion for the show - including Thabethe's looks.Β

This year, celebrity fashion stylistΒ Tebello Radebe got the job of styling her for the ceremony and Thabethe has been sharing stills of her looks from throughout the evening and we've ranked them from least to most favourite....Β

Coming in at number 5...Β

This hot pink number left us feeling ice cold. For something in such a youthful, vibrant color, it feels old and severe and the styling doesn't help at all.Β

At number 4 we have...Β

Designed by the same designer who created the hot pink number, we're sensing a theme here... Needless to say, this dress is only redeemed by the neckline and hair but it remains a plain satin-looking gown. Very matric danceish (circa 2008).Β

This white beaded and feathered Gert Johan Coetzee number comes in at 3Β

Perhaps it's the colour or the way it was styled but this look leaves something to be desired. Or maybe we've just seen it one too many times on recent years.Β

The black, beaded, ball gown takes the number 2 spotΒ

As beautiful as this gown is...we've seen it before. TWICE;

On Thando herself, the first time she did this SAFTAs hosting thing (and frankly, we love the first one better).Β

And on Dineo MoeketsiΒ at the 2017 SAFTAs. The neckline is befitting of a dress this big, dark and dramatic and the Morticia Addams centre parted straight weave was perfection.Β

But back to this year, Thando's gold Zarth Designs gown HAS to be number 1.

Although the silhouette is reminiscent of the dress Nomzamo Mbatha wore to the same ceremony, Thando looked exquisite; serving equal parts of sexy and elegant which is exactly the kind of woman she is in addition to being so much more.
