Vatiswa only got big shot in her 30's but look at her now.

It pays to be patient. That's definitely one lesson we're taking from Vatiswa Ndara. The Igazi star, who walked away with the Best Actress award at the recent DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards, only made it into the TV acting industry when she was 34 years old.

Her big break came as "Mam' Mfundisi" on Generations.

Speaking to Anele, she said: "One would think 'give up, it's never gonna [happen]'. It's like wanting to be a rapper at that age," she joked on Real Talk with Anele.

"I was actually telling somebody last week, I only started with my acting at the age of 34, I got my break a the age of 34... From 2004, that was the break and a lot of people would have said give up because you have to start these things when you're fresh..."

She explained to Anele that she's always wanted to act. "From a young age, from six years I knew I'm gonna do this thing. So why would I give up on it now? It took forever. I mean I was rejected I think because of my weight. I wasn't the proper figure, I didn't have that beautiful face (I'm still working on it)."

Vatiswa has become one of the biggest and most loved actors in the country.
