EDM has firmly established itself as one of the leading genres in mainstream music over the last few years. The likes of David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Example, Avicii and Swedish House Mafia all put hours of work to ensure that their music was received by the masses and the results have been phenomenal. We've seen youngsters such as Martin Garrix and Hardwell step up to the plate in the last 12-24 months and the response they've received from mainstream audiences has been incredible. EDM is here and it looks like it's here to stay- we should all embrace and enjoy it!

Read yesterday's hottest story- Nomuzi, Nomzamo and Thomas all involved in a love triangle!

One publication that is loving its EDM is Forbes, who, this week, released their list of the 13 highest paid DJs in the world. We've seen the business publication compile similar lists for other music genres such as Hip Hop and Pop, as well as lists beyond music (Remember seeing Bill Gates top the Forbes list for years on end?). If you had any doubt over whether EDM was really making paper or not, it can be cleared this morning for you; these guys are raking in the dough!

Calvin Harris came out on top (for the second year running) and if you think about the radio presence his smash it, Summer has been receiving, you just have to wonder if he might not even scoop the top spot this time next year. Britain's favourite EDM DJ made over $66million in the last 12 months (Yes, this whole 'DJ' thing does pay kids!).

David Guetta came in second, despite making almost half as much as Harris ($30million). We were expecting to see Martin Garrix creep in to the list but his efforts over the last few months (While not having gone unnoticed) weren't enough to earn him a spot in the top 13 best paid DJs in the world. Forbes recognizes his talent though, and dedicated this special Martin Garrix feature to the young DJ.

Have a look at the full list below; are you surprised that certain names (Ahem, DeadMau5!) aren't placed higher? Leave us your thoughts in the comments section!
