Would YOU want Boom Shaka to return?

Everybody loves a comeback. Well, almost everybody. See, when Thembi Seete, while speaking to Mail & Guardian, Thembi touched on last year's iconic performance at the Channel O African Music Video Awards. Everybody loved the performance, and obviously questions such as "Will the band be coming back" arose.

This was another question that was posed to her in the interview, and of course, she had her reservations about making any kind of comeback without Lebo Mathosa.

Thembi Seete “Making a comeback scares me,”

The interview also mentions that Mafikizolo, who also lost a member before launching a delayed return to the mainstream sphere, encouraged the remaining Boom Shaka members to not hold back on a comeback.

So we know that a comeback would be supported by industry peers, but a more important question is, how would the fans take to a Boom Shaka comeback?

See, that's the problem that a lot of fans can't seem to get their heads around. Lebo Mathosa was a shining star, along with the other members of course, but she was a crucial part of what made Boom Shaka's identity. Would the band be as domineering in the charts, at performances and in-studio without Lebo?

It's a tough sell, and a tough ask but we could always find that Boom Shaka decides to re-brand themselves instead of attempting to recreate their previous shine. If that was the case, I wouldn't be opposed to it at all. A newer, fresher sounding Boom Shaka would respect the legacy they had left behind, but continue to forge a new future for the band.

Do you want to see a Boom Shaka comeback? Let us know in the comments, this could be a discussion that goes on for a while!
