With her love for the arts, Mmabatho has confirmed that she is exploring new avenues as she directs her first theatre production titled Frontieres.

Montsho stated to the Sowetan that "Frontieres" is a re-telling of the personal testimonies that were given by migrants from all over Africa -Zimbabwe, the DRC and Cameroon to name a few- about living in South Africa and elsewhere on the continent as foreigners.
Montsho said she became interested in the story because it was about borders and migration within Africa. Mmabatho, believes the play is opening an important conversation in a country where xenophobia is prevalent.
And although some areas of this country have moved passed this kind of futile discrimination, there is no time like the present in revisiting the subject in an effort to exert change.
"I remember the effort that was made to make sure that the concept of the rainbow nation works. I believe that we should apply the same effort in making African unity work," Montsho told the Sowetan.
When asked if directing was a difficult feat for Mmabatho, she challenged that, by stating that anyone's story is a struggle.
But if her directing is anything like her screentime, we have absolute faith that Mmabatho can consider herself a great storyteller no matter what the medium.
The play is set to open at the Market Theatre in Johannesburg on June 14.
