A-Reece Is In Trouble

Jul 01, 2019, 09:59 AM

A-Reece is probably one of the biggest young rappers in the country today but he somehow keeps finding himself in some kind of trouble. This time, it's thanks to his whole team.

It hasn't been an easy ride for A-Reece. After his very dramatic exit from Ambitiouz Entertainment, he has since turned his attention to The Wrecking Crew.

The Wrecking Crew is certainly a very prominent hip-hop crew in South Africa today. It's original members A-Reece, Wordz, Flame, MashBeatz, Tyga Bankz and more have put out more than 10 critically acclaimed albums and EPs across its roster. Through fall outs and learning how to maneuver the industry, A-Reece and his team are still building.

But The Wrecking Crew has been hit with a setback. A case of fraud has been opened against the group for failure to show up to a performance in Postmasburg, Northern Cape earlier this month.

Fans and organizers were left disappointed when The Wrecking Crew skipped out on their performance at the Bloem Invades PMG Festival this past Youth Day weekend. It may be that the rappers were double booked but the organisers say that they had already paid their booking fee!

Event organiser, Pitso Masiloane from Mownate Production, told SowetanLive that his company had booked the Pretoria-based hip hop crew to headline the festival that evening. Needless to say, not showing up was very unprofessional of the rappers.

According to Pitso Masiloane, when speaking to SowetanLive, Mownate Production had already paid their booking fee of R36,750 and transport fee of R10,900. A total of R47,650 agreed upon with their manager, Papers Motsamai.

It seems as though that even though The Wrecking Crew were the ones who cancelled without notice, they are reportedly refusing to refund Mownate Production the full amount. Instead, they only offered to refund the Transport Fee of R10,900 but only paid back R5000 claiming that their driver "went missing with the money".

The Wrecking Crew's manager reportedly isn't planning to refund any more money. Motsamai is citing clauses in the contract that say they can keep their booking fee if the artist falls sick or gets in to an accident unexpectedly.

We wonder who the court will rule in favour of in this case.
