It’s been a good month for African music. Davido’s long awaited EP finally released on the 14th of October, and two days later, Ice Prince Zamani revealed that his album, “Jos 2 the World” would be releasing on the 28th of October.

During the course of the year, Ice Prince has given us a taste of what we can expect on #J2TW. The rapper-come-singer released several singles and videos, including “Excellency” which featured South Africa’s DJ Buckz.

ZAlebs spoke to Hakim, aka Don Picasso, the man who had the pleasure of directing “Excellency” and we got to find out what it’s like to record a video with Ice Prince. Hakim said:

“It's always a great pleasure and privilege to work with Ice Prince. He is a hard worker and very professional and humble as a mega superstar. Both him and DJ Buckz”

Hakim also talked about working on the video itself, the creative ideas behind “Excellency” as well as the talented crew behind the production. He said:

“I would first like to give thanks to God, my team and the crew for all the selfless hard work they put into the planning, shooting, and post-production. Custom-design was handled by Lerato Mkhethoni and Rowdy Planker. A lot of research and thought went into creating our leaders. Ice Prince did a lot of research , personifying Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari, Zimbabwean president  Robert Mugabe, ex-President of South Africa Nelson Mandela, Mobutu Sese Seko of former Zaire.”

We couldn’t let Hakim go without asking him about Ice Prince’s new album, #J2TW. From the sounds of it, you’re not going to want to miss this record:

“I have had the privilege of hearing quite a few tracks and I was present for some of the studio session of the tracks that made the cut of the album. You can expect to hear new sounds from Ice Prince, in my opinion J2TW is definitely the most genre versatile album he has ever put out and the best to date.”,

Make sure you save some time to listen to the album on the 28th of October!
