Brickz Ma’brigado back in court

Brickz Ma’brigado back in court

Dec 05, 2013, 07:32 PM

It's been little over a month since Brickz was arrested and the kwaito star was also denied bail on November 19.

"There is convincing evidence and likelihood that the applicant will intimidate witnesses," said magistrate Piet Kotze on the state's decision to not grant Brickz bail.

Brickz supporters bowed their heads in sorrow while others cried when he was denied bail.

Brickz Mabrigado, whose legal first name is Sipho Charles Ndlovu, allegedly raped a 16 year old girl in March of this year. He was arrested on November 1 and has been in custody since then.

What won't help  Brickz is that magistrate Kotze has informed the court that the rapper lied to the court about his previous convictions.

In his affidavit Brickz stated that he held no previous convictions, but the State has submitted information that proves that he was convicted for possession of cocaine in 2007.

He was sentenced to four months with an option of a R1000 fine. Half of that sentence was suspended.

Ndlovu had submitted to the court in his affidavits that it was in the interest of justice that he be granted bail, arguing that the State did not have a strong case against him.

Kotze said there was no evidence to back up Ndlovu's claim that the State's case against him was weak.

The star is back in court as he attempts to resolve his fate. It is unclear just what that will be, but it doesn't seem like proceedings are in his favor at present.
