This wasn't just any fan (although let's be clear; the loss of any life is a tragedy), this was a fan who had given Cassper Nyovest his utmost dedication. The rapper recognised him from Twitter commentary and even found a picture taken from an occasion when their paths had crossed, but now the die-hard Tsibipian was gone.
Cassper shared the news on Twitter where he wrote:
"Got the sad news that one of my avid supporters passed on yesterday. Not a day went by without me seeing his tweets and I couldn't believe that his picture was being posted with yesterday. Condolences to his family. Thank you for your support. "
Sometimes we get so caught up in the Vodka/Fruit battles that we forget to realise that there is still real life at the end of the day and life can be snatched away from you in an instant. Cassper was reminded of this as he slowed down and reflected on how suddenly Lethu was gone.
Aside from this tragic occasion, Cassper has been spending a lot of time connecting with his fans. He also invited one lucky fan to his house to play a game of FIFA, saying:
"I wanna play Fifa at my house with one of my fans. Just an intimate one on one. Nothing serious but I don't like losing so you better bring your A Game!!! Best of 5 games is cool."
Sometimes entertainers forget to spend time acknowledging the very fans who have gotten them to this point but it looks as if Cassper Nyovest is determined not to make that mistake.
Do you think more rappers should follow Cassper's lead and build a strong, human connection with their followers?
