Johnny Clegg's musical influence in the Arts cannot be overlooked. He had carved an inspiring and daring legacy for himself over the decades of unwavering service to the world of music.
From almost the word go, this multi talented artist had gone above the ordinary in his presentation of music. Being the melting pot of all things diversity that Mzansi is, Johnny then assimilated a large portion of his sound to the Maskandi genre - which is heavily inspired by the Zulu culture.
Manoeuvring across all genres is one of the goals that most musicians aspire to hence it could potentially widen their reach. Johnny was one of those musicians that thrived as a fan favourite and was greatly respected in the music industry at large. Below is a compilation of a select few celebrities that reacted to the passing of Johnny Clegg aka 'White Mlungu'.
Speaking to the recently launched news channel, Newzroom Afrika, fellow musicians Yvonne Chaka Chaka shared her condolences by saying "Johnny was so patriotic. He was an amazing guy, I was telling someone earlier that, I have never spoken English with Johnny Clegg. He never thought he was better than anybody.''
Zwai Bala also appeared on the show and had this today about his fallen colleague: "He's the one person that I love to make examples of, in terms of encouraging young South Africans to look into who they are. He has made an indelible mark, when I hear about the amount of work that he had done is absolutely phenomenal."
We send our sincerest condolences to the Clegg family. Johnny has left an unmissable mark in the music world.
