After we announced that the actress would be returning to our small TV screens on a new drama series titled iSthembiso, her return was met with great excitement from people who have been following her since her Generations and Tshisa days.
Many people had been wondering where the TV star had disappeared to, you could actually forgive us for thinking that she had taken a very long vacation from the entertainment world but in actual fact, Chichi was overseas studying.
Speaking to ZAlebs, the bubbly actress revealed that for the past 5-years she's been hard at work being a student.
"I actually went to go study at a film school in New York. It's a fabulous school called the Michael Howard School of Film, Theatre & Television.
I went to go study, which took up a lot of my time and then I fell in love with New York, so I decided to stay there for a while and travel for about 5-years. Then I did come back because my student visa had expired."
Chichi further explained that when she did come back, she found herself in a dilemma as she wasn't really sure what she wanted to do with her life even though she was convinced that whatever she did it had to involve some kind of creativity.
You may have not seen her on your TV sets for a while, but whilst still in the country, Chichi was working on a lot of corporate gigs.
"I did a lot of corporate videos and infomercials so I opted to be out of the public eye for a bit because I feel like at some point, you need a private life and that for me is really important." Said the actress.
After seeing that the corporate stuff was not creative enough for her, the acting bug bit her again which led to her seeking for more acting jobs. After a period of searching and auditions, Chichi eventually got her role on iSthembiso and went on to tell us a bit about her character.
"Claudia, my character, is married to the wonderful and fabulous Hamilton Dlamini, he plays the character of Banzi and I'm in a sort of love triangle with another guy and I've got three kids.
For me, Claudia's character is living that luxurious life that every woman wants. She lives in a big mansion, drives expensive cars and wears expensive clothes.
So everything looks like perfection from the outside but the closer you look into her life, you just see that she's got a really fractured marriage, but runs a very successful business with her man.
So from the outside looking in, you'll love her but once you get a closer look, you actually see that her life is not what it seems, she's basically living the magic that is actually misery."
With a known and a fairly unknown cast, Chichi also mentioned that the public is going to love the new actors in the show.
She is absolutely excited to be surrounded by so much talent and sees the new you actors as a very dynamic group of talent that she enjoys working with.
iSthembiso is set to air in April.
