It was just a normal Saturday morning when most of us woke up, rubbing the sleep from our eyes and checking our phones for weekend plans. And then it happened...
Pearl Thusi shared a tweet warning people about the dangers of haters and, um, Bonang Matheba agreed with her. Yes, this is not a drill and if you don't believe me, check the evidence below. It began when Pearl said, "Haters are a part of the game. That's a rule you can't change." And then look who retweeted with a comment:
At this point, many of us were confused as to what exactly was going on. Unless you only started following them now, you will know that Bonang Matheba and Pearl Thusi do not get along at all and haven't done for the best part of 6 years.
Upon seeing this reply to her sworn enemy, many of Bonang's fans went absolutely bonkers on the timeline, wondering what was going on and if the two presenters were now finally seeing eye to eye, or if this was just the latest chapter of the beef.
Others suggested that Bonang was actually trying to subtweet Pearl herself (using her own tweet) as the Queen Sono star has been seen and known to "hate" on Bonang.
For those wondering where the rivalry began, we first noticed it back in 2013 when Bonang and Pearl Thusi were both up for consideration for what went on to become a historic Revlon deal. Since then, the two have poked fun at one another with the beef escalating during the infamous Bonang, DJ Zinhle and AKA love triangle.
Pearl Thusi once explained the source of their beef in an interview with OK Mzansi when she said,
“It’s a thing of finding out the stuff a person has been saying or doing without you even knowing. You know like a ‘snake in the grass’ type of thing, where you’re like… ’Hawu, I thought we were indifferent about each other’.
Because we were like kind of cool with each other, hanging out in London during that Pharrell thing and then break-ups happen and then you find out things from the people who shouldn’t have told you about those things, and you’re just like, ‘Wow! You’ve dogged me so hard!'”
During that same interview she emphasized that she did not want to stand back and be bullied by anybody:
“But I’m not like that, I’m not going to be bullied by someone who thinks they’re better than me or are gonna put me down in order to make themselves feel better. It’s fine, if I go down, I’ll go down, but I’m not going to go down without a fight,”
With this latest incident on Twitter, it looks as if Bonang may have stirred the pot once again... but will Pearl take the bait?
