The 24-year-old DJ was in Los Angeles back in June to produce a track for Beyonce's Lion King Album, The Gift. While in LA, LAG bumped into American DJ Diplo and got to hang out and share all about Gqom music and how it all came about.
DJ Diplo was so inspired by the Gqom sound that in no time he released a concept album on his Good Enuff record label.
“A nomination for a Grammy would mean that I can continue to show the world where I come from, what my music means to me and my people. The dream is big, but so is the support of my community. It already feels like a win," the Durban-born DJ says in a statement to Zalebs.
The highlights in DJ LAG's career over the past 3 months include a stellar performance at Sonar Barcelona and the release of the DJ Lag-produced track, My Power, on Beyonce’s The Lion King: The Gift. Coming up are two pivotal shows at Afropunk Atlanta and London’s Jazz Cafe.
We wish DJ LAG all the best and hope he brings that Grammy home.
