The gqom singer and her manager bae - who recently rekindled their romance - shared the poster on social media as part of the upcoming tour, of which they referenced notorious partners (and lovers) in crime Bonnie Elizabeth Parker and Clyde Chestnut Barrow.
"It's being unleashed, it's coming to your city soon. Where are you based and where would you like us to bring the #BonnieAndClydeTour? Comment below with your city & Tag the best Promoter in your city @mampintsha_shimora," read the poster.
The text was innocent enough, but it was the visuals that erred on the side of controversy.
Babes and Mampintsha - both armed with a firearm - are pictured unknowingly approaching each other, with a door separating the two.
But it was the immediate connection to another tragic incident – that of paralympian Oscar Pistorius who shot and killed his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp through a bathroom door – that did not bode well for fans.
Reeva's death and the Pistorius trial marked a dark era for South Africans, and is something we can all agree not to make light of.
Fans reacted in complete outrage, slamming the couple for their insensitivity.
“This spits on the grave of #ReevaSteenkamp with this whole toilet scene and guns. It’s more Oscar & Reeva than Bonnie & Clyde,” claimed one tweep.
Others joined in with their disapproval
Others were annoyed - given the fact that Babes accused and charged Mampintsha of assaulting her (we all saw that video) only to later drop the charges and reconcile.
Some fans told the couple not to bother coming to their province!
Then there were some who found the whole thing funny!
Sorry guys, this one goes down as a pretty epic fail!
