FAKE NEWS: Drake Isn’t Coming To SA

US Rapper Drake was the main topic of the rumor mill after fake reports claimed that he is coming to Mzansi.

We hate to see it…

… but the rumors that you heard about Drake, AKA ‘Champagne Papi’ coming down to Mzansi to bless us with a couple of stadium-sized concerts were all entirely fabricated.

On Tuesday evening, social media was abuzz with the claims that the 6-God would be performing in SA this March. Some people were preparing to hit the casino and play the slots and some Black Jack, hoping to win enough money to get a ticket. Some of the packages which were put  “on sale” went for as much as R18 000.

As it turns out, this entire tour was all a hoax.

Firstly, after some investigation, it was discovered that the domain which was advertising the tickets went live in December 2019 for the first time. The “buy” links don’t go anywhere and the office of “Book Tickets” is registered to a virtual location in Canada. Fam, is that even legal?

Renowned event organizer George Avakian has rubbished the reports, warning people not to buy the tickets unless Drake himself announced the news.

“Drake rumours are fake please make sure you don’t pay for any tickets, unless announced by Drake. Stay woke it’s 2020,” George told fans on social media.

Even the concerts that are supposed to take place in Ghana and Nigeria on the “Book Tickets” site are also completely fake.

It hurts, sure but in 20Plenty, we’ll have more than enough opportunity to turn up. Which international acts do you want to see in SA next year?
