Every nation has a list of its most celebrated veteran actors or actresses and the South African list would be incomplete without Nthati Moshesh who has been gracing our television screens for decades.

From the 90s straight into 2018, Nthati continues to be a force of relevance in the entertainment scene.

With a career spanning within local circles to international scenes, Nthati’s ambition is to be a famous Hollywood actress.

Having studied drama and performing arts from Natal Tecknikon now known as Durban University of Technology, the actress has strong film and TV credits including Anant Singh’s Long Run, Kini and Adam shot in Zimbabwe (1996), Round Trip, Beat the Drum and many more.

The veteran also has a list of TV roles on popular dramas including Home Affairs, 7de Laan, Interrogation Room, Homecoming and the list is endless proving Nthati is an onscreen goddess.

Although famously known for her role as Morongwe in Scandal, Nthati has also enjoyed working with industry greats like Miranda Otto as well as bagging some prestigious awards including the Canadian Gemini Award for her role in Human Cargo and the best actress in a lead role award at 2016 South Africa Film and Television Awards (SAFTAS).

Born in Katlehong, the 49-year-old unlike most of our young media personalities is far from living the Insta or Twitter life. She sticks to keeping her private life private and isn’t bothered with how many social media followers she gains as long as her career is blooming.

We couldn’t blame her though as keeping up with the social media frenzy is not a thing for most of our veterans.

Being the celebrated actress she is, Nthati often bags TV roles without auditioning for them because her talent is undisputedly making her a point of reference in this industry. With the skills and intensity one could give Nthati any role and she will surely do some justice.

However, just like any other actresses, Nthati is also a victim of the ups and downs of the industry hence her decision to branch off into production and other non-acting endeavours like property investments and being a guest speaker at prestigious social events in and around Africa.

In an industry dominated by young newbies, the veteran has successfully maintained her relevance as she continues entertaining both the young and old with her gifted acting.
