South Africa’s A-list stars spare no expense when it comes to their international travels.
Dubai, Paris, London, Los Angeles and Phuket are just a few of their favourite destinations.
Here’s a look at how much they spend on their international travels.
When stars like Sarah Langa and DJ Black Coffee are not travelling in private planes, they are flying in business or first class. In 2017, AKA and his then-girlfriend Bonang Matheba paid a whopping R60 000 for return business-class flights for their Thailand vacation. We could buy a year’s worth of clothes at MRP with all that cash!
No celebrity holiday is complete without staying in a fancy hotel or resort. Expect to pay at least R19 000 for a seven-night stay at celebrity hotspots like Club Med La Pointe aux Canonniers in Mauritius. TV presenter JoAnn Strauss is a regular at the luxury resort.
Expensive shopping sprees
Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Christian Louboutin, Gucci and Dior are just some of the brands Mzansi’s biggest stars have been spotted buying during their international travels. You need top dollars and euros to spend like a ZAleb abroad.
Boity treated herself to a designer shopping spree during her recent trip to Italy. She visited the Gucci Garden in Florence and Dior in Roma. With the tiniest of Gucci bags retailing for $1 000 (around R15,000), you can bet your last R100 that Boity forked out big bucks for her retail therapy sessions.
Celebrity travel outfits
Travelling to a new country with the same old clothes you wore in your hometown will not do when you are a celebrity. If you want to be a VIP traveller, you must look the part in pricy travel outfits.
Bonang Matheba was pictured wearing tens of thousands of Rands worth of clothing during a trip to New York earlier this year.
She was spotted wearing several real fur coats including burgundy mink on the streets of NYC. All the coats were from The Fur Salon at Saks Fifth Avenue and retail from R85 000 to R458 000.
Queen B was also snapped in a Norma Kamali sleeping bag jacket which costs around R12 000!
