Sphamandla Dhludhlu & Thulane Shange have been the topic of discussion lately since they began their relationship on drama series - iKhaya.
Both actors briefly disappeared from our TV screens after Sphamandla left Rhythm City & when we saw the end of season 2 of iSthunzi which featured actor - Thulane Shange.
While on a brief hiatus, the actors were working hard in preparation for their new roles on iKhaya.
Sphamandla plays the role of Lindani Mbatha, a young man who is living a double life. Whilst he is a womanizer, he is also secretly dating his gay lover played by Thulane.
Unfortunately, because of his role, Sphamandla has become subjected to homophobic slurs on social media and has been called "isithabane" (faggot) on numerous occasions since he began his role on the show.
However, the actor took the slurs with a pinch of salt as he has mentioned that his new character has taught him to be more sympathetic to people of the LGBTIQ community.
What we've come to appreciate about these two actors, is that their roles in the storyline teach the South African public that there are people like their characters who live such double-lives.
Respect to Sphamandla and Thulane for getting out of their comfort zone and addressing such topics through their craft as actors.
