SA soapie stars went head-to-head at the Royalty Soapie Awards in Durban last night (28 March). The event honoured some of Mzansi's best and also gave credit to those who paved the way for others in the industry.
Isibaya, Scandal and Villa Rosa were among the big winners of the night. Mzansi Magic's Isibaya, again, proved to be a fan favourite after scooping five awards including Outstanding Soapie of the Year, Outstanding Editing Team and Outstanding Directing Team. Wow!
The show also cleaned up at last year's ceremony. Some people were caugth off-guard when Kyknet's Villa Rosa won the Most Popular Soapie Award. Fans voted in this category. They also took the awards for Outstanding Male Villain and Outstanding Female Villain.
Scandal's Masasa Mbangeni, who won a SAFTA last weekend, took the award for Best Lead Actress. Generations creator Mfundi Vundla was also honoured as an industry pioneer at the event.
