John Kani cast in Lion King

Marvel's Black Panther isn't even out yet but we're already preparing our coins to go catch Dr. John Kani in yet another major international production. 

The casting rumor mill has been working overtime ever since Disney announced its intention do a live-action remake of yet another classic, The Lion King, and the names of who will be voicing the iconic characters has just been revealed. 

Among the exciting list of cast members is our very own John Kani who will be voicing the role of Rafiki. Joining him will be James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa, Atlanta’s Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) as adult Simba, Beyonce as Nala and Alfre Woodard as Sarabi. 

This is Kani’s third major international project in recent years following Captain America: Civil War and the highly anticipated Black Panther

In addition to the aforementioned cast members, Chiwetel Ejiofor will play everybody’s favourite villainous uncle Scar, while John Oliver will voice Zazu, Seth Rogen will voice Pumbaa and Billy Eichner will voice Timon.

American actor, screenwriter, film director and comedian, Jon Favreau will be directing the project for a July, 2019 release date.
