Aside from his role as presenter for the show, Lakaje also acts as executive producer on the show, which won Best Television Feature for a piece which tells the inspiring and heart-warming story of the Ncholo family.
The feature deals with loss of the two Ncholo brothers, who are both doctors and for whom tragedy strikes when their brother is murdered. They, however, show remarkable humility in the face of such horrific adversity, by not only forgiving their brother’s killer but in the end also taking care of his siblings and HIV-positive parents.
Commenting on the honour of receiving the award, Lakaje said it’s gratifying to have achieved what they set out to do.
“It is truly humbling to be recognised for trying to contribute to nation-building,” said the award-winning journalist, according to the Daily Sun.
“After all, our mission is to promote a new way of thinking among South Africans. The production team did an excellent job.”
‘Against All Odds’ airs on eNCA every Friday at 8:45pm.
