Katlego "Killer" Mphela has revealed that he was already planning on leaving Kaizer Chiefs before he was pushed by the Naturena outfit.
Speaking to Daily Sun, the footballer said: "I actually wanted to leave Chiefs - my mind was made up a long time ago. I've played football for a long time and have been through worse than this."
The player also told the paper that he was not going to be anyone's punching bag or second choice. "I just wasn't enjoying my football. I wanted to be number one and for that I needed to play. I've never had any bad relations or fought with any coach in my career. If I feel I have to go, then I have to go."
He revealed that there were times when former Amakhosi head coach Stuart Baxter played the "false number nine" system and "we were four strikers waiting to play, but not one of us played."
He said Chiefs just didn't work out for him. He told Daily Sun that he would to return to Bafana Bafana one day. "I still have my goals there and I'm glad that coach Ephriam Mashaba is the type of coach who gives everyone a chance..."
