Just last week Khabonina announced that she is launching an online channel health channel and now she's been honoured at international film awards.
Khabonina this morning announced that she won the Indie Spirit Best Actress award at the Boston International Film Festival for her role on Dora's Peace, a locally produced film that was released last year in August.
In the film, Khabonina plays the role of a trigger-happy sex-worker who finds herself in the midst of danger after she tries to shield a young boy whose mother was killed by a couple of gangsters.
The film also features actress, Hlubi Mboya who plays the role of a drug addict and the mother of the young boy.
Khabonina announced the exciting news on her Twitter page earlier on today.
Speaking on the Expresso Show, Khabonina mentioned that the script was the main reason why she decided to act in the movie.
"When I read the script, I thought to myself, 'Oh my goodness! I was drawn to Dora and was drawn to the relationship she has with Peace (the little boy)..."
