A radio station that has surely created a frenzy among its conservative listeners is the revered Ukhozi FM. With the latest reshuffling and non renewal of contracts many are wondering who is yet to occupy the much salivated radio slot - the breakfast show. During the past week, word on the street was that Phumlani Sgqemeza Mbatha, who is currently hosting the breakfast show, will be hosting the 8PM slot from Monday to Thursday as of 1 April 2019, thus leaving the masses wondering whom will be waking them up in the morning. However there hasn't been any communication regarding the replacement on the breakfast slot.
According to an article on Sunday Sun, Linda Sibiya also known as Mr Magic has been roped back on Ukhozi FM. The radio maverick is set to blaze the radio microphone on 1 April 2019, when all the changes on SABC radio stations commence. The article also stated that details surrounding Linda's return have been quite sketchy as it is still not known whether he will occupy the breakfast or afternoon show.
Just like many media personalities, Linda Sibiya also has a thriving side hustle apart from his illustrious radio career. His events management company, Magic Communications was embroiled in a saga pertaining to fraud. It was alleged that the company had illegally secured a handsome amount of 1,8m million through retail firm, Edcon back in the year 2014. Linda had maintained his innocence from the word go, however it seems that wasn't enough to hinder a dismissal from Ukhozi FM's powers that be.
After fighting off the widely publicised fraud case at the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Johannesburg, it was then eventually withdrawn as no evidence was found against Magic Communications. The legendary radio host has allegedly been trying by all means to secure his job back at the station, which catapulted him to the legendary status that he is known for today.
Changes that are set to happen at Ukhozi FM will be effective as of April 2019. Listeners will have to adapt to hearing their favourite presenters such Selby ''Selbyonce' Mkhize, Sgqemeza and Khathide ''Tshata'' Ngobe on new slots.
