Back in late April, South Africa's hardest working entertainer, Somizi Mhlongo, hinted that he had yet another deal coming and not even we could have imagined what it really was... 

Earlier this week, it was announced that Somizi would be the new (and first male) face of cosmetics brand Black Opal. 

The news has been met with a lot of positivity but there are a select few who refuse to understand the changing nature of the status quo. From tone deaf headlines to just plain ignorant comments on social media, many still believe that make up is "just for women"...

The brilliance of signing someone like Somizi s a brand ambassador is the fact that he has mass appeal and is loved by many. Women can recreate his make up looks and so can gay men and other members of the LGBTQI community and men who need a little coverage can certainly put their faith in a brand trusted by someone who works long, hard days like Somizi. 

If anything, Black Opal is just falling in line with a trend that is taking the make-up world by storm while introducing themselves to an entirely new client base. 

In fact, the argument that make up is just for women is the same as the argument that trousers should just be worn by men - both ideas are outdated and have both been proven to be untrue.
