Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi has hinted that the prestigious Miss Universe Pageant could be hosted in South Africa. Miss Universe is the largest pageant in the world in terms of live TV coverage, airing yearly in more than 190 countries worldwide to an audience of over 500 million people.

Zozibini divulged the news in Umthatha during her homecoming tour. The beauty Queen said it would be an honour to hand over the crown in her home country.
In her acceptance at the Miss Universe stage, Zozibini brought down the house, eliciting a raucous response from the crowd and a broad grin from the contestant herself.

She encouraged women to unequivocally take up space and cement their places in life. Zozibini has been a beacon of hope to many and women empowerment has been one of her key focuses.

“I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me — with my kind of skin and my kind of hair — was never considered to be beautiful, I think it is time that stops today. I want children to look at me and see my face, and I want them to see their faces reflected in mine,” said Zozibini during her acceptance speech.

The Eastern Cape native said South Africans must campaign for the pageant to be hosted in South Africa." I want all of us to fight for it, so that I can handover the crown while I'm here at home, so that young girls are able to look for it up close and personal and see that it possible for all of us.

We all look forward to this history in the making.
