Movember Man Crush - SA's favourite bearded baes

Naymaps beard

Although it initially kicked off as a campaign to raise awareness around depression and various cancers affecting men, Movember has become about more than the moustache. It now includes the beard, giving the ladies something to look at all while working towards a good cause.

What is Movember?

According to the official foundation, Movember (a combination of moustache and November) is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November aimed at raising awareness around the issues listed above and “changing the face of men's health."

Besides annual check-ups, the Movember Foundation encourages men to be aware of family history of cancer and to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

A GQ article once suggested keeping the facial hair even after Movember ends and turning December into Decembeard. Well, seeing as we love looking at a full, well-groomed beard, we kinda agree. Check out our list of SA’s best bearded baes:

1. Mdu Masilela

We don’t know what transformation Mdu underwent but it was like we woke up one day and he was uncle bae.

Simply the best...

2. Mika Stefano

Not only did the blogger lose a ton of weight and keep it off but he also went from being the bared-faced gossip monger to looking like a real gossip gangster with that beard.

3. Thapelo Mokoena

Whether he’s bare-faced or bearded, Mr. Mokoena has always gotten our hearts beating and our temperatures rising - but there’s just something about that facial hair (and its specks of grey) that have him looking like the blesser we all wish we had.

4. Sthembiso 'SK' Khoza

SK has always been bae but it wasn’t until all his roles on Mzansi Magic dramas that we sat up and took notice of just how yummy he is. Whether he’s playing and advertising hot shot, a 60’s-era boxer/ modern-day actor or a hot-headed son of a cocaine kingpin, Khoza just needs to let that beard flourish.

5. Sipho 'Psyfo' Ngwenya

We never really thought about the day our favourite YoTV presenters would be all grown up but Psyfo is one of those who grew up pretty well. We hate to admit it but the beard works for him.

6. Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane

He may not be a celeb but he’s certainly popular enough to make it on to the list. And you can’t exactly talk about beards without mentioning Tibz

7. Riky Rick

Another name you cannot leave out of any conversation about facial hair is King Kotini. We mean, just look at him.

8. Shona Ferguson

There are OG’s and then there are OBB and Mr. Ferguson is an OBB - original bearded bae. Full stop.

9. Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes

Although he never lets it get past the bottom half of his face, we guess Kiernan counts as a bearded bae.

10. Black Coffee

Quick question: How many times have you seen Black Coffee without any facial hair...? Exactly
