The event was free to the public, and in addition, not only was the audience treated to great music and free alcohol, the food was also sponsored by a popular chicken outlet.
Muzi put on quite the show, treating fans to new music and he also brought on stage his other greatly talented musician friends like Una Rams and Langa Mavuso – the crowd went wild!
The event marks the first since Muzi was announced as part of the #DezeerNext global emerging talent programme, which chooses artists like Jorja Smith to support for a year. The support varies from playlisting, to profile development to “creative Artist Marketing campaigns.
The electro master has stolen the hearts of many, including international musicians like Diplo and South Africa’s very own, Black Coffee, with his tunes that burst with energy and have great delivery.
His success hasn’t come without dedication and hard work. ZAlebs caught up with the star in the making after his explosive performance. He shared:
"Tonight was about possibility of dreams becoming real, that I can do it, my music connects and that people actually listen to music."
Muzi said the partnership with Deezer came through his previous record label Sony.
"Deezer is always looking to find up and coming artists that are bubbling under. We thought of the idea of doing a show and doing it this way, where it is about the audience. The only thing y'all had to pay for was petrol lol. No entrance, you eat, drink and you get entertained, it's crazy. For me, I appreciate that people listen to what I make. Any way that I can give back, I will. It's not just about making money, it's about connecting. What happened I don't think Deezer or we could have imagined."
Muzi said people can look forward to a new album as well as his upcoming single set to drop 15 February.
