is heading to Texas in March for her first ever appearance at the South by SouthWest Festival which takes place in Austin.
It feels like just the other day that Kwesta and a host of South African hip hop heads represented on the SXSW stage, and this time it’s Nadia who will be strutting her stuff.
The SXSW festival is an event that combines the finest in entertainment, film, music and technology to give festival-goers a truly immersive multimedia experience. This week, the rapper spoke about her upcoming performance at the festival and she couldn’t hide her excitement for what’s to come.
Speaking to Tshisa Live, Nadia opened up about performing in the States for the first time:
"It's really exciting to play for a new audience and also to make those vital connections. I think I was chosen because I have something unique to offer. Our (hip-hop) guys are doing big things internationally and it is up to me to show them that we (females) can also hold our own. That there are girls that are also holding it down here."
She also spoke about the importance of bringing South Africa’s sound to the world, claiming that promoters often come to the continent and focus on Nigeria without showing Mzansi enough love.
Nadia added: "We have a lot of potential for a crossover and collaborations. We have so much potential and should be celebrated.
