In case you missed it, Thuso made history when she announced that she had landed the role of a lifetime in Hollywood. Thuso will be playing the role of Cora in Amazon's new original feature, The Underground Railroad which will be directed by Barry Jenkins. If his name sounds familiar it's because he's the filmmaker who was behind the Oscar-winning title, Moonlight.
He's bringing his talents to the small screen with Amazon's next high profile title and he chose our gal, Thuso, for what will be one of the biggest roles a South African actor has ever landed.
Absolutely everybody in Mzansi is happy for the two-time Emmy Nominated actress, including Nomzamo Mbatha, but hold up - Nomzamo just wanted us to know something first real quick: She was up for the role too.
Nomzamo wrote on Twitter:
"When I auditioned and found out I was pinned for this role I couldn't stop jumping with excitement! Now finding out that a DESERVING Homegirl got it makes the loss so sweet!!! Congratulations Thuso, I know you will do Cora so much justice!"
Nomzamo has since deleted the tweet but not before people could screenshot it and repost it with their own commentary. In short, many believe that the Isibaya star was attempting to steal Thuso's shine by making the announcement about her.
And the dragging of Nomzamo began...
It's worth noting that along with these tweets, there were many other comments from Nomzamo's supporters that pointed out that all she was doing was extending congratulations while gracefully admitting defeat. Does that really count as attention seeking?
Nomzamo has instead kept it moving while Thuso herself has paid no mind to the chatter on social media.
Do you think there was anything wrong with what Nomzamo had to say about Thuso Mbedu's new role, or are social media bullies just trying to fulfill their anti-Nomzamo-agenda?
